Monitor NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for vital weather information. Watch rivers and creeks for signs of rising water levels.

Know how to turn off your gas, electricity and water supplies.
Prepare a flood kit of essential items. Kit Checklist
Move items of personal value and treasured mementos to a safe place.
Make a list of all your important contacts and keep it with you.
Agree where your family will go and how to contact each other.
Keep your vehicle’s gas tank filled.
Take family pets to a safe place away from the home.
Keep your cell phone charged.
Check your insurance coverage.
Know where to purchase and how to prepare sandbags.
Do not camp or park your vehicle along streams or washes.
Do not walk through standing water. It may contain hazardous materials.
Turn off the gas, electricity and water supplies if safe to do so.
Never drive through flooded roadways. If your car stalls, abandon it immediately.
Avoid downed power lines and broken gas lines.
Keep children and pets away from fast moving or high water.
Kayakers and rafters should report overturned “runaway” boats to authorities.
Immediately evacuate your home if you are advised to do so by authorities.
