Second Grade: World of Wonders – Travels with Technology:
World of Wonders introduces students to a variety of geography, and research skills as they learn about their physical and cultural place in the world. Students study maps, use latitude and longitude, cross time zones, and apply these skills as they use technology to travel the world. In the culminating project, students, in the role of travel agents, will use Google Earth, other media and implement persuasive techniques to convince others to take their tour. The focus on collaboration, persuasion, integration of technology and a “real world” assessment allow students to begin to flex their 21st C. skill set.
Second Grade-Coding (required)
Students answer the question “What is coding?” by discovering why it is important to learn coding, the jobs associated with coding, and how precise instructions can lead to a successful outcome. Using Code Studio in Code.org, students follow through lessons that teach looping, debugging, conditionals and other necessary language in order to make programs work.

Students will research the history of shoes, design their own type of shoe using the SCAMPER method, and learn about acronyms, idioms, and other types of figurative language.
