Rice MS Orchestra has a long standing tradition of excellence. That excellence is due, in part, to the work of private lesson teachers. We have many private lesson teachers who work with our orchestra students, some here at school but many outside of Rice MS. Regardless of whether you study outside of school or here at Rice, a quality private lesson teacher can make a tremendous difference not only in your child's playing ability, but in your child's level of enjoyment.

Is it ok to study with a teacher outside of Rice MS?

Yes! Our district and Senior HS directors have vetted the instructors who work with our students here at school to insure that high level instruction is delivered, but we are also happy to recommend outside teachers who have repeatedly produced successful players. Please feel free to email us for suggestions, as not all teaching is created equal. A quality lesson teacher knows how to teach posture, intonation, tone, and musicianship in a fun and engaging manner.

What can private lessons provide for my child?
