Welcome Incoming 5th Graders!

We are excited to meet all our new orchestra students. If you missed the 5th Grade Instrument Selection Event, don't worry. You can still be in orchestra! We've created some onlines resources to help you navigate the process of selecting an instrument at home. It is important that you pick your instrument, fill out this Google form, and start the rental process before school begins in August. ***Do NOT purchase an instrument.***

Congrats All-Region Members!

Congratulations to all the orchestra students who participated in All-Region this past Saturday, October 28th! We are so proud of all who auditioned.

Region 25 is one of the most competitive regions in the state of Texas. We are thrilled to announce that 75 Rice orchestra students were selected as members or alternates.

A special congratulations to the following students who were selected as principals of their section:

Ryan Nam - principal violin of the Brahms orchestra

Anthony Jung - principal cellist of the Brahms orchestra

Daniel Rutnam - principal bassist of the Brahms orchestra

Chloe LIn - principal cellist of the Beethoven orchestra

Arthur Zeng - principal cellist of the Bach orchestra

If you did not get to attend our Instrument Selection Event on April 27th, don't worry. You can still get all the information you need HERE on our website.

Check out your four instruments choices for orchestra.
Measure yourself for the correct size.
Read about the supplies you'll need to gather over the summer. Don't wait on this! The rental stores will run out of instruments, books, etc.
Read about the rental companies for RENTING an instrument. Yes, it is very important that you rent and not purchase an instrument. Go ahead and reserve your instrument ASAP. Ask the rental company to deliver your instrument to Rice.

Very important reminder ***Please DO NOT purchase an instrument.*** Instruments should be rented from one of our recommended vendors. When you are ready to purchase an instrument, we are happy to use our expertise to make sure you purchase a quality instrument at a fair price.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication it took to prepare the music and complete the audition process. Rice MS Orchestra had a very successful day! Rice students earned 76 of the spots, taking a total of 31% of the total positions.
