Third quarter report cards went home on Wednesday, March 13th. Please sign and return as soon as possible.
March 29 to April 5th is Spring Break. There will not be school on these days.
March 28th - Students can pay $1 to wear blue. Funds are going to help support NC Children’s Home. Students are required to wear jean pants or uniform bottoms on fundraiser dress down days. Jeans may not have holes or tears (regardless of patches or leggings underneath. Uniform shoes must be worn.
March 28th - K-8 Yearbook order forms were sent home. The cost to order a yearbook is $30. The deadline for ordering a yearbook is by Thursday, March 28th. Cash or check should be attached to the order form. Make checks payable to David Grose Photography. A digital copy of the order form is included below. Yearbooks can be ordered online at: https://davidgrosephotography.shootproof.com Please include the name of the homeroom teacher in the comments section when checking out. Sales tax will be added to all online orders.
April 12th - Spring pictures were sent home on March 18th. Spring picture order forms are due by April 12th.

By May 1st - Please help us in showing our love and support to the Senior Class of 2024. PCA will be presenting each Senior a basket the week of graduation. We are asking for individuals or groups to help us by adopting one member of our senior class and preparing a basket of their favorite things. See flyer for details.

Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. Per the dress code, students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.
Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day. Any personal electronic device found during the day will be confiscated. Refer to the school website for the entire technology policy.
Dress Code Reminder: Make sure students are following the school dress code. Please remember that students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time. Please make sure that all student clothing, including jackets, coats, shoes, and socks, conforms to the dress code. Refer to the school website for guidelines. Attention Pinnacle Classical Academy Students and Parents!
We're excited to announce that the (ATHLETICS) application portal for the 2024-2025 school year is now officially open on DragonFlyMax.com! If you're planning to tryout for any of our fall 2024 athletic teams, it's mandatory to have your 2024-2025 school year account completed.
Moving forward, our Athletic Department will be present at tryouts, and students without completed 2024-2025 accounts will be unable to attend. We understand that some of you may have physicals on file at PCA. Moving forward, we kindly request that you keep the originals and submit your copies online. Physicals submitted to the school will be returned home for online submission. Plus, to make things easier, certain demographic data from the 2023-2024 school year will transfer over automatically.

National History Bee
On Friday, February 16, PCA will administer the National History Bee regional qualifying exam for elementary and middle school students to students in grades 4-8. This online exam will take only 20 minutes. With our school spelling bee completed, we wanted to give our grade 4-8 students another opportunity to shine academically!
We expect that some of our students will qualify for the National History Bee's regional finals. In the days after the qualifying exam, Mr. Ziegler, our dean of academics, will send information to families of students who qualify to let them know about the different regional finals (online and in-person) they could potentially compete in. Because of the registration cost ($47) and time commitment involved, it will be each family's decision whether or not to register their student for a regional final.

December 20-January 3rd - The school will be closed. No school for students. Have a safe and wonderful Winter Break.
December 13th - 18th - We will be on a modified schedule due to exam week for semester long classes. The schedule is posted below. Students in middle school will be taking their i-Ready diagnostic test for ELA and Math during this week. The second nine weeks ends on December 19th. Report cards will be sent home in January.
December 19th - December 19th is a regular scheduled full day of school.
January 24th - The third annual PCA school spelling bee for grades 3-8 will take place on Wednesday, January 24, at 9:00 on the grade 4-12 campus in the downstairs media center. The finalist spelling bee is open for parents/guardians to attend. The winner will advance to the Carolina Panthers Charter School Zoom bee on February 7.
January 25th - We would love to see you participate in the next PEAK meeting at the K-3 campus at 6:00 p.m. The next couple meeting dates will be January 25th, February 22nd, March 21st, and April 25th.

November 21st - 6/7th grade will be going on a field trip on November 21st. We are going to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and UNC-Charlotte campus. The buses will be leaving shortly after 8:00 am. Please make sure your student is arriving on time this day. Students will need to be picked up on the Elementary Side of Campus at 3:45 pm. (Near the band room) A detailed email was sent home earlier this week with information about the field trip.

September 18th - Visitors and Volunteers may begin coming into the classroom on Monday, September 18th. Volunteers must have a recent background check on file.
September 28th - We would love to see you participate in the next PEAK meeting at the K-3 campus at 6:00 p.m.

Please return all required back-to-school forms to your student’s homeroom teacher.
Computer Fee: A $25.00 fee is collected from each middle school student for the use of their Chromebook. This should be sent to the student’s homeroom teacher.
First 5 days - Students are only allowed to change their schedule during the first five days of the semester. NO schedule changes will be allowed after that time.

August 21st - Band and Chorus rehearsals will resume on Monday, August 21. The weekly schedule is as follows: Monday - Percussion rehearsal, Tuesday - Beginner band, Wednesday - Chorus, Thursday - Band rehearsal (for those with 1+ years of band experience) Friday - individual lessons. Sign up for lessons with Mrs. Owens.
Sign-ups for the Band and Chorus are still in progress. Any 6-12 grade student who wants to participate should complete the attached form and turn it in to Mrs. Owens.
August 23rd through 28th - Middle School will take the i-Ready reading and math diagnostic test starting on August 23rd. This diagnostic is an adaptive assessment to find a student's level of understanding.

End of Grade or End of Course Testing - Middle school students will be completing teacher-made finals and EOG/EOCs the week of May 22nd to May 26th. Reteaching/Retesting will take place from May 30th to June 1st.

Middle School Awards Day- May 26th - Middle School Awards Day will be held in the upper campus at 10 am. Parents/guardians are welcome to come and celebrate their students' success. Please see the attached flyer for details.
**Now is the time to sign up for band camp. Band camp will be held from 8:00-3:00, July 24-28. The cost of the band camp is $125. Instructors who specialize in different instruments will be available to help you progress on your instrument. See Mrs. Owens for a band camp form.
May 22 - It's that time of year PCA. Our school's robotics teams are looking for new members. We have FTC (First Tech Challenge) for rising 8th-12th grade and FLL (First Lego League) for rising 6th-8th grade. Applications can be found in the front office, Mrs. Falls’ room 215, the upstairs media center, and Mrs. Austin's room 211. These are due by May 22, 2023.

Rising 7th Graders Immunization - Students entering 7th grade are required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, pertusis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine for individuals who have not already received those vaccines. Senior Baskets- Friday, April 28th- Dear Parents,
With graduation drawing close, the middle school staff wants to honor the Senior Class of 2023. Starting with the Class of 2020, baskets were presented to each senior during the week of their graduation activities. Our school wants to continue this tradition. We ask for your participation to help make these baskets memorable for students. Each senior compiled a list of favorite items such as places to shop and eat, foods, candy, hobbies, etc. Our goal is to fulfill at least 4 baskets with the help of your donations. I have included pictures of the baskets donated by our middle school previously as well as a sign-up genius link. The link provides items for the Class of 2023. All items should be returned by Friday, April 28. Students may bring these to the homeroom teacher labeled Class of 2023. Your help is greatly appreciated as we show our support for PCA's graduates.

***Construction Begins***
Parents, we are excited to begin construction of Phase II at the 4-12 Campus. Please remind your child(ren) that they should not cross the fencing around the construction area. Students should not communicate with construction workers. Construction workers will not be in the building without an escort by Mr. Clary, Officer Hopper, or an Admin Team member.
There are some immediate changes that need to occur due to construction.
Arrival:
ALL students (4th -12th) should be dropped off on the elementary side beginning tomorrow, March 24.
Student drivers may still park on the high school side.
Dismissal:
Students who usually are dismissed from the high school side will continue to do so - but will be exiting from a different doorway. We will have extra staff members outside to direct students. Traffic flow will stay the same. We ask that you be extra cautious when you are driving on campus as we begin this transition
We are thrilled to begin construction on Phase II. I am sure there will be inconveniences in the upcoming year, but the end result will be worth it!

Parents, we are excited to begin construction of Phase II at the 4-12 Campus. Please remind your child(ren) that they should not cross the fencing around the construction area. Students should not communicate with construction workers. Construction workers will not be in the building without an escort by Mr. Clary, Officer Hopper, or an Admin Team member.

January 6 – Second Quarter report cards, letters of intent, and i-Ready diagnostic results are being sent home. Please sign and return these as soon as possible.
January 16 –There will not be school on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
January 20 – Will be an Alzheimer’s Awareness dress-down day where students will be able to pay $1 to wear purple. See the attached flyer for additional information.
Middle School will run on a modified schedule from January 30-February 3rd due to testing. Middle School will take their second NC Check-In for both math and reading. Your student will receive a grade after completing this assessment. The main purpose of this assessment is to provide parents, guardians, teachers, and students with an indication of your student's current understanding of the grade level content/standards.
Every Friday will be School Spirit Day. Students may wear PCA spirit wear tops (athletic eagle logo) with uniform bottoms on Fridays. Please note: Norris Merchandise is selling some PCA items with hoods - these items are NOT approved spirit wear. Per the dress code, students may not wear hoodies or hooded jackets inside the building at any time.
Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day. Any personal electronic device found during the day will be confiscated. Refer to the school website for the full technology policy.

Winter Break -- Monday, December 19 is the last day of classes for students before our break. This is a make-up day for exams and testing. Students return on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Reminder with flu season upon us:
If a student is ill, he/she should not attend school. Please keep a student home in the morning if any of the symptoms listed below are present. If any of these symptoms develop during the school day, we will call you to pick up your student. Keep ill students home until the student has been symptom-free for 24 hours, and/or if they: have a fever of 100° or higher, vomiting or diarrhea, evidence of a severe head cold, persistent cough, or sore throat, or there is evidence of a suspicious rash or other contagious conditions (pink eye, head lice, ringworm, etc.).

December 1st – Peak is holding a meeting at the K-3 campus. Please see the attached flyer for details.

The PCA Bake Sale will be Thursday, December 1st. All proceeds will go to the Dare to Soar Scholarship Fund. The details are in the attached flyer.
Our Middle School Team is excited to offer the opportunity for our students to enjoy a delicious lunch on Thursday, December 8th. This will be prepared by a local restaurant, Taste of the Town. The form was given to your child this week and is also attached. Please return the exact money amount in an envelope marked with the student’s first and last name and the form to your student’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, December 1st.
In honor of veterans and their service to our country, we would like to partner with our PCA family and community to spread holiday cheer to some of our selfless servicemen and women! We will be collecting donations and writing Christmas cards for a group of veterans at the Bath VA Medical Center located in Bath, N.Y. We invite all of you to participate in this wonderful opportunity! All Christmas cards and donations may be dropped off in the upstairs media center. Items that can be donated are listed on the attached flyer. We will be accepting donations from now through Wednesday, December 14th. Thank you in advance for your support!
i-Ready Challenge -- All middle school students have the opportunity to participate in our 2nd nine weeks incentive. The details are listed in the attached flyer. Please encourage your student to reach their weekly goals.

November 17th – On November 17th we will have PCA Pride day. All K-12 students are invited to show support by paying $1.00 to wear jeans with their red and black attire. Students who do not participate should be in regular uniform. The dress code for this day is as follows:
Students are required to wear jeans or uniform bottoms (no joggers, etc) on fundraiser/College T-Shirt days. Jeans may not have holes or tears.
Hoodies are not allowed.
Other non-uniform clothing is not allowed.
Homeroom teachers will send students to the clothing closet to change into a school uniform if they are not dressed according to the outlined specifications.

Thursday, November 10 – Please join our Middle School students in honoring our Veterans in a Veteran’s Day Ceremony at 1:45 pm. If you would like to submit a photo of a family member who has served in the armed forces, we would love to display them at the ceremony. Please submit a copy of their picture along with their name and dates of service to hfouts@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com. Any pictures of veterans that served will be accepted. They do not have to be a family member of a Pinnacle student. Thank you for your support in honoring those who have served. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
November 17th – On November 17th we will have PCA Pride day. All K-12 students are invited to show support by paying $1.00 to wear jeans with their red and black attire. Students who do not participate should be in regular uniform. The dress code for this day is as follows:
Students are required to wear jeans or uniform bottoms (no joggers, etc) on fundraiser/College T-Shirt days. Jeans may not have holes or tears.
Hoodies are not allowed.
Other non-uniform clothing is not allowed.
Homeroom teachers will send students to the clothing closet to change into a school uniform if they are not dressed according to the outlined specifications.
November 28th - December 2nd – Students have the opportunity to dress up for PCA Spirit Week. See the attached flyer for details. Students who choose not to participate in the theme for the day need to dress in school uniform.

If you wish to order, you need to complete the form and return it by Wednesday, October 12 with $7.00 CASH. Returning NJHS member letters went home last week with students. Please return the completed form and money by the due date, September 30th. Your student will receive a grade after completing this assessment. The evening will include 43 tables (decorated by our parents and local businesses with LOTS of different themes), a silent auction, entertainment (by students and staff), and dinner. Middle School received a school planner this year to help learn organizational skills. Our guidance counselors have met with students to help instruct them on fully utilizing these student planners. Please help encourage your child to use this tool.

Our HOME volleyball games will start at 4:30. PCA students & spectators WILL NOT be allowed in the gym until 4:00. This allows the athletic department time to set up the gym after school and for players to change and prepare for the athletic contest. Students (unless team members) WILL NOT be allowed to remain on campus until game time. The only way a PCA student can remain on campus is if they have arranged with a school staff member to supervise them until the gym opens. We need to make sure every child is properly supervised while on campus.

Save the date! Free Sports physicals will be offered in the 4-12 gym on May 14th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This physical opportunity is available for those interested in PCA Athletics during the 2022-2023 school year. If completed on this date, your child would be covered for all athletic teams and seasons next school year! Don’t miss it!
Band Registration Night is Tuesday, May 17 @ 6:00 PM in the band room (room 101). All students and parents (grades 5-11) who want to learn more about the band opportunities at Pinnacle, as well as current band members and parents, are invited to attend. Information will be shared about band rehearsals/performances, instrument information, band camp, and more! Representatives from Music & Arts will be present to answer questions about instrument rentals and purchases. See this video for some basic instrument information.
Good News! The Spring Festival has been rescheduled. On Friday, May 20 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, PCA’s Student Government Organization (SGA) is organizing a SPRING FESTIVAL. This event is open to PCA students in grades K-12 and their families. The festival will include food, games, music, face painting, a kickball tournament, and a girls' “powderpuff” flag football tournament between students in grades 9-12. Students can race each other on a 40-foot inflatable obstacle course, or jump for joy in a bounce house. Admission to the festival is $5 per person. All proceeds will go toward organizing future SGA events for students and the community. In case the weather doesn't cooperate, the rain date for this event is May 27 (at the same time). Please see the attached flyer for more information.
On Friday, May 20, PCA's Student Government Organization (SGA) will hold a WEAR BLUE DRESS-DOWN FUNDRAISER to support Autism awareness, advocacy and research. Students will be allowed to pay one dollar to wear their favorite blue clothing. Money will be collected at the middle school and high school entrances to the school as students enter the building on their way to homeroom. All money raised will be donated to the Autism Speaks Foundation, which advocates for greater support and acceptance of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and sponsors research related to Autism and related conditions. (Note: Students may not wear jeans with holes, leggings, or flip flops on this day. All shorts/skirts must be no shorter than three inches above the knee. Students may not wear hoodies inside the building.)

While we will still offer a paper copy if needed, this will help us streamline our record-keeping process and hopefully reduce the overall time needed to complete our yearly athletic forms. We took our NC Check-In(s) and i-Ready diagnostic for both math and reading on April 5-8th. Make-up testing will be given as soon as possible.

The Final deadline to order the K-8 yearbook will be Friday, April 29th. Those ordering yearbooks by April 29 will be guaranteed to have their yearbooks by the end of the school year.
With graduation drawing close, the middle school staff wants to honor the Senior Class of 2022. Starting with the Class of 2020, baskets were presented to each senior during the week of their graduation week. This year our school wants to continue this tradition. We are asking for your participation to help make these baskets memorable for students. Each senior compiled a list of favorite items such as places to shop and eat, foods, candy, hobbies, etc. Our goal is to fulfill at least three baskets with the help of your donations. All items should be returned by Thursday, April 28th. Students may bring these to the homeroom teacher labeled Class of 2022. Your help is greatly appreciated as we show our support for PCA's graduates. (See baskets from last year below)

Report cards were sent home on Thursday, March 23rd. Please sign and return your report card as soon as possible. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Friday, April 1st. There will be no school on Friday, April 1st for students.

The Spring Term of the Girls Who Code club begins on March 24th. Interested girls in grades 7-12 may fill out an application at Mrs. Jacobs' website here. Girls Who Code is a national organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology and computer science. Club members learn to code in Scratch, Python, Java, Swift, and Html as well as how to better give and receive support to other women in STEM fields. Club members also have exclusive access to a network of alumni and scholarship opportunities.
Girls Who Code meets on Wednesdays from 3:00 until 4:15.

Students are permitted to bring a change of shoes if they prefer to not wear their daily school shoes outside. If your child is sick or cannot participate in P.E. please make sure they have a note from either the doctor or a parent/guardian excusing them from class.

Our goal is to raise $40,000 for playground expansion for our K-3 campus, and gym expansion for our 4-12 campus. Are we ready to be the top fundraising class?

Weekly Updates and Reminders 2/17/22
There will be no school for students on Friday, February 18, and Monday, February 21. Friday the 18th will be a Parent-Teacher Conference Day. If you would like a conference please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Progress reports were sent home on Wednesday, February 16th. Please sign and return these as soon as possible.
Each month the school re-evaluates our mask policy. We base our decisions on a multitude of information including the most recent guidance from the state. Based on this guidance, as well as the data showing that our numbers of COVID cases are significantly decreasing, Pinnacle Classical Academy will be adopting a “Mask Optional” policy beginning February 28.
The school started registration for their Dance Fit and Color Run Boosterthon fundraiser on Wednesday, February 16th. Please see the attached image for additional information.

The National Junior Honors Society is sponsoring a Sock Drive beginning January 18th. A flyer was sent home last week with more information. Please support our students through this valuable project.
PCA Athletics is planning on offering a Co-Ed Golf team this coming spring. We are in the process of seeking the overall level of interest at PCA. The team will be open to all students in grades 6-12. Next week will be the last week to sign up! A parent meeting will be scheduled soon.

Cheer tryouts will be in May. However, we need to know how many are planning to attend the MANDATORY parent/student interest meeting in April. Using this information we will be able to acquire the correct space to fit everyone with as much social distance as possible. Please complete the signup genius by Tuesday, March 1st. On Monday, February 14, PCA's Student Government Organization (SGA) will hold a WEAR RED FUNDRAISER. Students will be allowed to pay one dollar to wear a red shirt with jeans. (Students may not wear jeans with holes, leggings or flip flops on this day. All shorts/skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Students may not wear hoodies or hats inside the building.) Money will be collected at the middle school and high school entrances to the school as students enter the building on their way to homeroom. All funds raised will be donated to the American Heart Foundation. See the attached flyer for more information.
