Fifth Grade Math

What we are learning in math:

We are ensuring that we understand terms that mathematicians use and using those terms when reviewing problems. Terms we have reviewed are: sum, difference, product, quotient, factor, addend, dividend, and divisor.
We have learned multi digit multiplication and multi digit division
We have learned how to calculate the volume of a prism using the formula volume = length X width X height
We also learned how to identify place value with decimals
We are learning the powers of ten and how to multiple and divide decimals by a power of 10 (i.e. 10, 100, 1000)
We learned about exponents and what direction they should give us when we are presented with a problem that includes exponents.

Make Up Work

Students are responsible for their make-up work. Each student can find missed assignments on Google Classroom or their school desk. It is their responsibility to locate their work upon returning to school. Students are allowed 1 day to make-up their work for each day they are absent.

If a student is absent on the day of scheduled quiz or exam or the date a written assignment is due, that work must be made up the day they return or at the discretion of the teacher. Grades will be entered as a zero (0) until they are made up.

Late Work Policy

10 points will be deducted each day an assignment is late. Grades will be entered as a zero until the late work is received. After three days, the grade will remain a zero.
