Volume 3
2023-2024
Special Feature: Advanced Topics in Literary Studies
The 2023-2024 academic year marked the first year Advanced Topics in Literary Studies was offered as a Form VI English elective. The course explores the decisions that scholars make when constructing chapter-length critical analyses. It surveys the lenses scholars use to analyze literature, how to decide which lens(es) will inform literary scholarship, and how to undertake a research project. Students read a sample of literary theorists, as well as scholars who use these theorists in their work.
During this inaugural year of the course, the Class of 2024 AT students partnered with The Parker Road Review
to learn how peer review contributes to the scholarly publication cycle. Two students completed the cycle by continuing to revise their work after the semester ended.
