Description: For this project, we had to find Ms.Tran's missing cow using decryption. Each hint we completed, we were given another clue until we solved up to the fifth. At first we only needed a one digit cipher but then we eventually needed the 10 digit one for the final clue.
Procedure: First we watched a video on the Caesar Cipher. Then, we made a simple Ceaser's Cipher code. Then we were given a brief project description and told that the first group to finish was going to receive a prize. So we were given a clue that was encrypted by 1 key. We solved that and then went on to two until eventually we got to clue five.
When we first got clue 1, we put it into a Ceasar Cipher code. We used a line of code that would try out every possible key from 1, 26. We did the same thing for clues 2-4. Each time, we recorded the key. Then, when we got to clue 5, we added all of the keys with a number combo from the fourth clue and used it as our 10-digit key.
Clue 1: After seeing the hoof prints on the football field, Ms. Tran knows her cow has gone missing! She is panicking! Can you help get the cow back?
Derived: This clue shows that her cow is missing.
Clue 2: Beckett said she saw JH kids having fun with the cow and eating mint candies together near the Cue Quad.
Derived: This clue shows that people saw the cow by the Cue Quad
Clue 3: Hattie mentioned seeing a broken jar of mint candies in the office when she tried to get one for herself.
Derived: This clue shows that someone went into the office for mints and broke the jar
Clue 4: Sabrina found a mint wrapper near the Murphy patio with a scribbled note: call me at 650806
Derived: This gives us the rest of the 10-digit code
Clue 5: The cow broke the candy jar while trying to get his favorite snack. No one stole him; he walked to Ms. Sanchez’s office to get candy, then hung out with the JH kids.
Derived: This is the answer.
SOUL Reflections:
S: My strength was how well i asked for help.
O: I could have interacted with my partner more.
U: I understood how to decrypt messages
L: If I understood decrypting earlier, I could've been a bigger help to my partner
WISCR:
I was a clear communicator when I asking for help.
I was insightful when I understood how to use my partner's old code to write a new code to find my 10 digit key for the final clue.
