Project Description:
We were supposed to create two animals on TinkerCAD, in which they have a hole that fits a cork. The requirements were to have it stand on its own, meet the 2x2x2 length requirement, and have a snug, but not too tight, fit.
Brainstorm:
Because I have two cats, I decided to do a cat as my first animal. Obviously, because the two or commonly shown in movies to interact with each other, and my experience with cats, I chose to do a mouse.
Procedure:
First, as a class, we learned how to measure the corks accurately. After I got a measurement, I made test rings to test the size on the corks. It took about four tries to get this accurate. I then started designing the cat using various shapes.
Finished Cat...
I then worked on the rat...
Final Rat...
SOUL Reflection:
Strengths: I think the design of the rat was very straightforward, and the tail could balance as well as the legs.
Opportunities: I could have added more facial features to the cat, but that would take a little while.
Understanding: Measurements are important, and guessing could lead to disaster.
Limitations: The biggest failure on my part was not getting the size right. I had to print four rings, but even then, the final size wasn't right. I had to find a different cork to fit properly. I luckily did.
WISCR
S: I was mostly self-motivated throughout this project. I was very determined to make the final result look good, so I didn't end up editing this portfolio.
