Tallest Structure

Description: In a group of four or 5, build the tallest structure that is sturdy and stays up for at least 1 minute. The structure is built solely on straws and 2 ft of masking tape. It must stand alone, and the only thing that it touches is the floor.

Brainstorm: We immediatly thought that we should make it like the Eiffel Tower so we Made a triangle base and built up from there.

Procedure: First, we started with making a triangle base by putting bendy straws into other bendy straws. Then we taped 6 ft of staws together and put them between triangle supports.

SOUL Reflections:

1. S - Strength: The integrity of our design was a strength.

2. O - Opportunity: We could have made it taller if we had more tape.

3. U - Understanding: I understand how to make more straw buildings in the future, I also understand how to make it stronger.

4. L - Limitation: Our limiting factor was having old and reused straws. They weren't very stable and some of them broke in half.

WISCR

We were self motivated because we jumped right into building our tower. Instead of waiting around for the teacher to instruct us, we started right away.
