Find the Cow

Description: For this project, we had to use python to decrypt the Caesar Ciphers given by Ms. Tran in order to find her cow. We had 5 clues in total, and we had to solve each one in order to get the next clue and to find her cow.

Procedure: For this project, in class, we learned how to decrypt and encrypt Caesar Ciphers with Python. This was the code: (the one on the right we used for the first four and the one on the left we used for the fifth one. The comments on the left one is what we used to get our answers to the clue for the first four)

On the day that we had to find Ms. Tran's cow, we decrypted the 5 clues that she gave us. The first four clues we just had to solve with a shift key cipher, but for the fifth clue, we had to use the 10 key shift with different numbers to get our answer. We used the 6 numbers in the clue 4 answer and guessed the last four numbers which were 9278.

Clue 1: "Vb. Cajw oxdwm jw xynw pjcn. Bqn rb yjwrltrwp knljdbn qna lxf qjb pxwn vrbbrwp!"

Clue 1 answer: "Ms. Tran found an open gate. She is panicking because her cow has gone missing!"

Clue 2:  "The zhpk aoha dolu ol dhz kyvwwlk vmm aopz tvyupun, ol zhd aol jvd dpao zvtl QO rpkz lhapun tpua jhukf ulhy aol Jbl Xbhk."

Clue 2 answer: " Max said that when he was dropped off this morning, he saw the cow with some JH kids eating mint candy near the Cue Quad"

Clue 3: "Tz. Ayhu yljhssz zllpun Tz. Rpun huk Tz. Zhujolg lhapun aol zhtl tpua jhukf."

Clue 3 answer: "Tran recalls seeing Ms. King and Ms. Sanchez eating the same mint candy."

Clue 4: "Awumwvm nwcvl i kivlg ezixxmz eqbp “Kitt um” ezqbbmv vmfb bw i vcujmz: 650806…."

Clue 4 answer: "Someone found a candy wrapper with "Call me" written next to a number: 650807..."

Clue 5: "Zme cuf swbjs cgwfpmy aa sdeo gx goa fv. So otn zbuqe iz. Pb batkkm aw Rs. Yjpjpke’a uohpkk tw mnv pox nabxtpbk svait."

Clue 5 answer: "The cow loves candies as much as you do. No one stole it. It walked to Ms. Sanchez's office to get his favorite snack."

The clue 5 answer told us that we would find the cow in the office.

Reflection:

S - The strength of our work was that we did it in a short amount of time.

O - Some opportunities to improve our work would be to try to find our a better way to find out the last four numbers of the code.

U - What I understood through this project was how to use python to decode Caesar Ciphers.

L - A limitation that I encountered during the project was that four the final clue, we had to decode a 10-digit cipher, but one part of the code was wrong, as it couldn't turn the key into a list, but we figured it out by when adding it to the list, we turned it into a integer and had it as a string beforehand.

WISCR - The WISCR letters that were shown through the work were I-Insightful and critical thinker becuase we had to figure out by using python where Ms. Tran's cow was and C-Clear communicator as we had to share our answers and work with a partner to solve it.
