Description: In a group of 4 or 5, build the tallest structure that is sturdy and stays up for at least 1 minute. The structure is built solely on straws and 2ft of masking tape. It must stand alone, and the only thing that it touches is the floor.
Brainstorm: Our plan was to make a pyramid shape on a base.
Procedure: We built a little base out of straws and some tape and started to but straws on the four corners. We connected many straws together into 4 long straws and taped each on a corner. Then we taped the top of the 4 long straws together so it would be a pyramid. But later when the pyramid gave out, we taped it back up and added a few straws to the top of the pyramid.
SOUL Reflections:
S - Strength — Our group was extremely determined to make our plan work.
O - Opportunity — We wanted to make a pyramid but we rushed it, leading to the structure leaning to the side. This affected the design greatly and the rest was a mess.
U - Understand — At the end, we understood not to rush anything and to just trust the process.
L - Limitation — We only had 2ft of tape.
WISCR: One moment of WISCR is when we were being insightful critical thinkers by angling the structure for it to balance perfectly.
