Project Description: The soap mold project is an activity where students design a soap with the measurements of 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch in height. Then they use a mold and create a reusable mold to create soaps in.
Brainstorm: I knew I wanted to do a bear with sun glasses.
This is my code in TinkerCAD code blocks.
This is my soap mold. I had to use sculpting mold to cover my plastic soap model. The bottom of my mold was too thin, so I had to use hot glue and patch it up. The sides also had a lot of air bubbles.
This is my soap in TinkerCAD. It took me very long to complete. I faced many challenges like printing in the wrong size. Eventually I fit my soap into the guidelines and printed it.
This is my soap. I poured hot soap into my dried mold and added food dye. I then waited 3 days and peeled it out. I think it turned out pretty well. I wish the sides were a little bit smoother and the lines of the bear turned out clearner, but overall I'm very happy.
S - I was good at coding and printing. I thought it was very fun.
O - I wish I had made a better mold, so my soap could be smoother.
U - I learned how to use the printer and how to make soap.
L - I found it very difficult to get the measurements right.
