Project Description: Create a candy dispenser using 3D printing and laser cutting. Use a microbit to dispense the candy. The candy dispenser must dispense 5-10 pieces of candy at a time.
Brainstorming: We saw an example of a candy dispenser and decided to do something like it, but with a microbit. We basically had a rod that would connect on one side to a piece that would hold skittles and turn them so that they fall into our tray, and would connect on the other side to the microbit, which would spin it to dispense the skittles. We decided to laser cut the main part of the box and 3D print the other parts.
Procedure:
1) After brainstorming, we designed our project on tinkerCAD.
2) We laser cutted the pieces to the main part of our project, which was just the box, and glued those pieces together.
3) After some adjusting of the spinning piece, we finally were able to print.
4) We printed the parts of our project that needed 3D printing (the rod and piece that will spin and dispense the candy and the ramps).
5) While our pieces were 3D printing, we wrote our code for the microbit and drew some designs on our project.
6) We glued all of our pieces together. We had some pieces that just weren't staying with glue and some pieces where the glue wasn't sticking, so those pieces got taped.
SOUL Reflection:
S: Our project wasn't very strong. I think if we had more time we could have made it a lot better. Even just one more day. Overall, I think we did the best we could.
O: I think that we should have made the microbit stay on the rod stronger and focus more on making sure it can spin.
U: I learned that we should have better time management in making sure we can get every part of our project strong and working well.
L: I think that the only limitation in our project was that we didn't have enough time to work on everything and make sure our entire project was strong.
WISCR: I think I showed the S in WISCR (self-motivated) and the C in WISCR (clear communicator) because I found this project fun and so I was motivated and I also communicated well with my teammates.
