Description: In a group of 5 people, Lealah, Alex, Jacob, Jessie, and I, we attempted to build the tallest structure that is sturdy enough to stay up for at least 1 minute straight. The structure was built solely on unlimited straws a 2 feet of masking tape. It must stand alone without any support, besides itself and the floor beneath.
Brainstorm: When this project was announced, we discussed that we would use a square base. After that, we stuck straws into each other as they stacked higher and higher.
Procedure: We started with creating boxes and triangles to support the straws that were being stacked. Then, we taped together the things that needed to be taped. Lastly, we measured our structure and ended up in second place.
SOUL Reflections:
S: One of many our strengths was that we had several thoughts. For example, we had a good selection of ideas to use, unlike other groups who seemed to be struggling to develop strong solutions.
O: If I had to remake our structure, I would save our tape for when we actually needed it more.
U: One thing I learned from this project was to trust other's ideas because they may work out just as good as yours.
L: I think we had a decent thought in the beginning of this project because it was pretty stable, but to be more accurate and succesful, I beleive that we should've saved our tape for when we needed it most.
