Skittle Dispenser - Tinkercad, microbit
Description: Design a skittle dispenser using microbit and tinker cad. Program it to dispense 5-10 skittles at a time through the dispenser shoot.
Brainstorm: My group, Jessie, Diana, and me: Jessie and Diana designed the display for the dispenser and I measure the microbit piece to fit into the twister which actually dispensed the skittles.
Procedure:Â
1. Design your dispenser.
2. Find realistic measurements for the display and then twister.
3. Create the design on tinkercad
4. 3D print or lazer cut your design.
5. Glue a piece of glass (not real glass, just clear, thick plastic) to the front of the dispenser so skittles dont fall out and you can see them.
6. Assemble. Put the twister where the skittles will dispense so that the microbit can turn the twister which will drop skittles.
7. Add the skittles and test with the microbit!
Reflections: Soul and WISCR
S- Strengths: Our group was well focused and productive. We got things done in an expected amount of time.
O- Opportunity: An opportunity our group lacked was definitely laser cutting. I feel like that if we laser cut everything, it would be quick, more efficient, and more accurate.
U- Understand: This project was very difficult in my opinion, though the concept wasn't the issue, it was HOW to build and program the skittle dispenser. I learned how to laser cut and how to 3D print with the new printers.
L- Limitations: A limitation was definitely time. With little time and much to do, it is very easy to fall off track and lose more time and focus.
WISCR Clear Communicators: Diana, Jessie, and I all communicated clearly what we were going to do. I was going to make the holder for the servo and the twister which dispensed skittles, and Diana and Jessie were going to build the actual dispenser display thing. With a good plan, we were all focused and motivated to finish our given task.
