Preparing to Launch... The 2026 AASFAA Conference!
2025-2026 AASFAA President: Josh Edwards
Arizona State University
A letter from AASFAA President: Josh Edwards
The AASFAA Annual Conference is a time for Arizona’s financial aid community to come together to learn, connect, and grow as professionals. This year’s conference—taking place March 31 and April 1 in Tucson—will feature a range of sessions focused on college access, educational initiatives, student success, and emerging practices in financial aid administration. For those pursuing additional professional development, WASFAA will also host an FAAC® Exam Prep Workshop in Tucson on March 30, the day before the conference, offering a valuable opportunity for individuals considering the certification.
Beyond the programming, the conference provides space to build and strengthen relationships within our statewide community. Whether you are new to the profession or have many years of experience, you will find opportunities to share ideas, engage in thoughtful conversations, and connect with colleagues who understand the challenges and opportunities of our work. Many of my own meaningful professional relationships began at conferences like AASFAA’s, and I hope this year’s event offers the same experience for others. I look forward to welcoming you on March 31 and April 1—please take a moment to say hello so we can continue building a strong, supportive Arizona financial aid community.
Josh Edwards
2025 – 2026 President

Dear [First Name]:
Navigating the landscape of Title IV student financial aid has reached a critical juncture. With the full implementation of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act (OBBBA) beginning this year and the introduction of the Repayment Assistance Program (RAP), our office faces the most significant regulatory overhaul in over thirty years.
Ensuring [Institution Name] remains in compliance during this transition is not just a matter of administrative efficiency; it is a matter of institutional risk management. Federal Student Aid (FSA) explicitly warned institutions that insufficient training on these new mandates increases the risk of audit findings, heavy fines, and potential loss of eligibility.
Given these considerations, I am proposing to attend the Arizona Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators’ (AASFAA) annual conference, scheduled for March 31 - April 1, 2026, in Tucson, AZ.
The AASFAA Conference offers invaluable, up-to-date information about student aid programs and provides critical guidance on implementing changes to better serve our students. This training and professional development opportunity is unique and cannot be replicated elsewhere.
As a participant, I will have the chance to attend several key sessions during the conference:

The AASFAA Conference brings together financial aid professionals from Arizona, offering opportunities for professional growth, networking, and leadership development. Beyond learning from experts and peers, I will also gain insights into product and software innovation, enabling me to evaluate and enhance our current processes, software, and vendor relationships.

I believe the AASFAA Conference represents a worthwhile investment of time and resources that will significantly benefit our financial aid office, the institution, and, most importantly, our students. I would greatly appreciate your approval to register for this opportunity.
