Tommy Tatum

I have taught Construction for 15 years. Before I started teaching, I was self employed installing tile, hardwood and marble. If you are interested in taking the construction pathway at Pickens High School, here is what the classes consist of.

Construction classes at Pickens High School consist of 4 different pathways. Carpentry, Electrical, Masonry and Plumbing. Students begin by taking Industry Fundamentals and Occupational Safety. This is the foundational course for the pathway and prepares students to pursue any career in construction. The second class in the pathway is Introduction to Construction. This class is an introduction to the four construction craft areas. After completing these two classes, students can choose any of the craft areas to complete their pathway. Students have the opportunity to complete more than one pathway if they choose to. These classes can be beneficial to students by preparing them for a career after high school, or by enabling them to do repair work at their home.

Construction classes offered at Pickens High School for the first semester of the 2018- 2019 school year are as follows:

1st Period: Introduction to Construction

2nd Period: Introduction to Construction

3rd Period: Industry Fundamentals and Occupational Safety

4th Period: Planning

Feel free to contact me anytime during the day. The best time to contact me by phone though is during my planning period. I have planning 4th period, which is from 1:45- 3:15.
