About Mrs. Naples:
After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1992, I began teaching in Pickens County at Jasper Elementary School. I have earned my masters degree in Art Education from The University of West Georgia where I studied abroad in England, France and Italy. I went on to get my specialist degree after that. I am happily married and have one beautiful daughter named Annie, along with many, many fur babies.
I look forward to working with the new 'Dragon Nation' students and staff! It's going to be a great year!
Welcome parents and students! The visual arts program offers students comprehensive art experiences with detailed explorations in the classics such as painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, and crafts. In addition to gaining confidence and proficiency working with a variety of mediums, students will learn about the history, analysis, and interpretation of art. But remember...Art is about exploring and the process more than the final product!! Much thinking outside of the box happens in Art!
GOALS OF VISUAL ARTS EDUCATION:
Art in school is both a body of knowledge and a series of activities. Fundamentally, learning in art has four major components. The goal of art education is the development of these areas:
*by making art (art production);
*by responding to and making judgments about qualities that exist in visual forms (art criticism);
*by acquiring knowledge about the contributions artists and art make to culture and society (art history);
*by understanding the nature, meaning, and value of art (aesthetics).
Class Guidelines for Success:
