Academic Triathlon is for students in grades 5th-8th. Students in 5th and 6th grade will compete together and students in 7th and 8th grade will compete together. They will compete in 3 events: Face Off! Mind sprints, and Party in a Box. During Face Off!, teams of students compete in oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning. Mind sprints are contests where students use divergent thinking skills, visual problem solving, logic, construction, and team cooperation puzzles. Party in a box is an activity where teams receive an outline for a story and act out the rest. If you would like to help your children prepare for AT, playing games like Taboo or Catchphrase or any other quick thinking timed game would be great. It is important that your child can work well with others since teamwork/behavior is part of the scoring process as well. For more information about Academic Triathlon, visit the USAT website!
