The Pine Island Science Fair is open to students in grades 2-4. Projects will be judged at the Pine Island Science Fair to determine which students will advance to the ZED Science Fair. Only students who are in 4th grade are eligible to advance to the ZED Science Fair. The Pine Island Science Fair will take place in the Elementary Cafeteria in March. Students MUST participate in the Pine Island Science Fair in order to have the chance to advance to the ZED Science Fair. The science fair projects must use the scientific method and all students will be expected to follow the ZED guidelines for a science fair project. I will send more information in regards to the ZED Science Fair when we know which students will be participating in it. Parents are welcome to attend the Pine Island Science Fair! We encourage all students to participate in the science fair! The scientific process allows many opportunities to build critical thinking skills, which are essential for the 21st century learners.

The Young Authors, Young Artists Conference welcomes students in grades 3-5 from public and private schools across southeast Minnesota. Students participate in active, motivating, idea-generating symposium of sessions. The conference focus is to promote student enthusiasm and competence in written and visual communication. Students will be encouraged to have fun with their creativeness and uniqueness. This program makes a significant impact on children whose writing interests range from mild avid and diverse and exposes students to the art and joy of writing. It's a great way to cultivate a child's imagination!
