At Phoenix College, we assess student learning in its many forms. While informal assessment occurs constantly, from observing students' engagement in class discussions to noting their progress on daily assignments, our formal assessment measures student achievement of key learning outcomes. These outcomes are carefully defined for each course, program, and at the institutional level. Through a variety of methods—including exams, projects, presentations, portfolios, and co-curricular activities—we evaluate how well students are mastering these essential skills and knowledge areas, always with the goal of improving our teaching and enhancing student success.

Assessment at Phoenix College is a continuous process permeating all aspects of student engagement. While informal assessment occurs naturally during every interaction between students and our faculty, staff, and peers, our formal assessment process is more structured and documented. This formal assessment takes place each semester. The next assessment is due by December 1, 2024.
