Nowadays many people get mad at teens for messing around and getting in trouble with the law. In the past parks were known as places where many people hung out and socialized, but nowadays parks and playgrounds are empty. This is because teens aren't going outside as much nowadays and are spending more time inside on screens. This is also causing teens to not not socialize as much and this is preventing them from doing social activities in the future and is also causing teens to become depressed.
Lots of adults are scared of teens and try to avoid and defund teen activities. Even though adults want teens to go outside more and do more organized events they are also the ones who are trying to defund teen activities and stop teens from going into certain places. Adults are trying to avoid teens altogether, banning them from places crossing the street when they see one but at the same time they are the ones that are complaining that teens aren't doing anything. If these problems are going to be solved people need to fund teen events and focus on bonding with teens instead of waiting for them to get older and mature.
These problems are because a lot of teens are going through confusing times and they need places that they can go to and rely on rather than just home and school. A lot of teens nowadays are spiraling into dark stages because they don't do social activities and aren't able to talk to other people their age out of school. The suicide rate in recent generations has spiked and this adds onto the fact that teens need more spaces that they enjoy and can express themselves.
Adults should focus on making more third spaces for teens to go. If adults invest more into third spaces like the YMCA, and after school programs teens will be going outside more and not be doing as many illegal things. These are all reasons that adults should invest more in third spaces and ways that they can.
