Happy Winter!
Students in K-3 have been hard at work learning new songs and playing new instruments.
Did you know that you can ice-skate without ice?! Well we did just that! Students in grades K-1 enjoyed ice-skating with paper plates to Emile Waldteufel's masterpiece, The Skater's Waltz. We also enjoyed making our own patterns and rhythms to Ezra Jack Keat's book, A Snowy Day. As we celebrate Black History Month, we will be exploring the wonderful world of Jazz and the many great black jazz musicians. We've already learned about Ella Fitzgerald and how to scat. Take a look as our friends perform for the class.
In grades 2-3 we have dived right in to our keyboard unit. Using our Music And The Brain curriculum, we are reviewing skills from last year and moving ahead with some new songs. We will be studying famous black pianists and learning a song by Florence Price!
Here are some links to our hello songs. Enjoy!

Hello!
Many of you might have been hearing your musicians singing songs that we have learned in music class. Below are links to those songs for you musicians to sing along. Enjoy!
Mi Cuerpo, mi cuerpo hace musica
Welcome!
I am looking forward to an exciting year of music making with your musicians. Children in grades K-1 will be using John Feierabend’s, First Steps curriculum. We will use songs, dances, movement activities, and games, to become Tuneful, Beatful & Artful musicians. With our growing instrument collection, PAS students will have space to explore, create and perform throughout the year.
I am very exciting to continue Music And The Brain (MATB) at PAS this year. This program will begin for students in grades 2 and continue into their middle school years. In addition to MATB, our musicians in grades 2 & 3 will sing, learn ukulele, and create their own music as we work to be well-rounded musicians. Check back here for updates as we move through the year!
