Happy Winter!
I can't believe that it is February already! Musicians in grades 4-8 have been hard at work making music and improving their musicianship.
In grades 4-8, we have embarked on our keyboard unit. Students in grade 4-5 will be using the Music and the Brain (MATB) curriculum. Many have had previous experience with MATB in past years, so we have spent time reviewing and will start learning new songs this week. We will also be studying some famous black pianists and learning a song by composer, Florence Price.
In grades 6-8, we will work on play piano chords. Using lead sheets, students will work their way through a series of belts as they play chords to pop and rock songs. I can't wait to hear how their keyboard skills develop over the next few weeks.

The Wizard of Oz
May 23, 24 & 25, 2023
Musicians in grades 7-8 created playlists that represented moments in their lives. After studying numerous album covers by various artists and the art work of Mickaline Thomas, they then created their own album cover to represent their playlist.
Welcome!
We are off to a musical start here at PAS! It has been a joy getting to meet your musicians.
This year, students in grades 4-6 will focus on choral singing, piano, drums, ukulele and a number of musical projects focusing on creativity & music making. Musicians in grades 7-8 will work on a variety of musical projects this year, ranging from music technology to composition. We will continue learning piano and ukulele as we pick up from where they left off last year.
