February 8th - Keyboarding practice at ABCYA!

Great job by those of you who tried to type some UPPERCASE and lowercase letters last week! It was awesome to see what you had typed into the form! This week we will try some online games where you can work some more on locating the letters on your keyboard.

Visit the activity here

Try to type each letter before it zooms to the top of your computer screen. Find the letter on the keyboard and press the key!

Type the letters that you see on each level above the Cute Jumper.

Even though the letters are UPPERCASE, in this game you do not have to use the SHIFT key to make the letters CAPITAL. Just type what you see on each line. Click START, then choose your character, and then click PLAY to begin in EASY mode for HOME ROW!

KODABLE CLASS LINKS

1-11-2021 Kodable website - COnditional statements

Welcome back Kindergarten ! This week we will look at some advanced programming tricks at Kodable. Watch the video below to see how we can use colors to tell our Fuzz where to turn.

IF the Fuzz touches a color, you can teach it to change direction! Use the colors to make sure your fuzz gathers all of the stars as it travels through the maze. Use colors along with arrows to create a CONDITIONAL STATEMENT.

Click to watch the video below, then scroll down to visit your Kodable class page. Let's give it a try.

The activities with colored squares will follow the SEQUENCING activities.

MAKE A SNOW PERSON !

I won't assign any new coding activities for this short school week, so if you did not complete the activities from last week, you can go back to the Kodable lesson below to finish. This week I am sharing a link to a fun activity where you can practice CLICK, DRAG, and DROP movements and rotate objects in a winter scene.

Take a look at the image below as well. For most items you add to your snow person, you can rotate the items before clicking to set them in your picture!

ROTATE USING THE ARROWS

We will be using drag and drop directional arrows to move our FUZZBUZZ characters through a maze, and correct any mistakes we make along the way. You can move any incorrect arrows out of your program by dragging them back to your toolbox!

WHAT WILL WE LEARN?

  • Sequence

  • Conditions

  • Loops

  • Functions

  • Problem solving

  • Critical thinking

  • Divergent thinking

VIDEO & MISSION CONTROL
