Dear Mastbaum Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  We are excited to build upon our successes from last year, where we established significant improvements in building safety and student achievement, as well as a fun and energetic learning environment that celebrates students with numerous events, activities, and partnerships.

At Mastbaum, our school vision is “We build the future.”  As our students work to build the future for themselves and their communities, we work with you, the families, to be builders as well.

We all engage in the work of “building” in three different ways.  First, Mastbaum students are members of a safe and welcoming school community where their leadership is encouraged and nurtured.  Second, they receive rigorous academic programming in English, History, Math, Science, and electives courses.  Finally-- and this is what makes Mastbaum unique-- they engage in a field of intensive Career and Technical Education study: Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Electrical Technology, Film and Video, Graphic Design, Health Information Management, Health-Related Technology, Plumbing Technology, Sports Marketing, and Welding Technology.

This is the experience that sets us apart!  With the broad range of specialized skills that a student earns at Mastbaum, they have the ability to:

Enroll in college.
Enroll in an advanced trade program.
Directly enter a skilled career field.
Partner with such employers as SEPTA, PECO, PGW, Comcast, Elliot Lewis, and Northeast Building Products.

Being a Mastbaum student means participating daily in a wonderfully diverse student body.  We have diversity of culture, diversity of languages spoken, diversity of learning styles, and diversity of skills.

Sincerely,

David Lon, Principal
