Edie has always known that her mother was adopted, what she does not know is her history. Edie longs to discover information about her Native American heritage, but she is sure that her parents either cannot or will not share the answers. One day, Edie and her friends discover a box full of letters and a picture of a beautiful woman named Edith. Could this be her biological grandmother? Why would her mother and father keep this a secret? Can she trust them to tell her the truth now? I Can Make this Promise explores the themes of belonging, trust, personal history, and friendship. Edie takes the reader on a journey to discover who she truly is and where she really belongs.
