The way we distinguish ourselves as individual leaders
On 12/18/25 some of our NJHS students did a little bee keeping. All decked out in beekeeping suits, our students inspected the hives and fed them a special sugar food to keep them strong through the cold winter months. You'll see some of the students using a smoker or "smoke pot" to keep the bees calm. Bees communicate with scent. If threatened the queen bee (ours is called Beyonce) will send a scent signal for the bees that makes them aggressive. The smoker masks any scent signal that she might send. Fortunately, our bees are very nice!!
