Welcome to 6th grade FACS! In 6th grade FACS, we will build on the skills learned in 5th grade. We will focus on goal-setting and laundry. We will review linear measuring. Our sewing project will be a full-size pillowcase, and our cooking unit will focus on breakfast foods.
January 5-9: Procedure review, goal setting notes, goal-setting vision board.
Graded classwork: Questions over goal-setting video, grade for goal-setting vision board.
January 12-16: Laundry notes, laundry symbols, laundry tag activity and worksheet, laundry tag Bingo.
Graded classwork: participation grade for the notes, grade for laundry tag activity, grade for worksheet
January 19-23: Stain lab, then we closed for the rest of the week!
January 26-30: Closed for the first half. Biz Town 01/29, then Laundry Test 01/30
Reminder: Laundry take-home test and fabric for pillowcases are both due February 9.
February 2-6: Linear measurement review
February 9-13: Sewing machine parts and safety review; threading machines
February 16-20: Begin pillowcase sewing project
February 23-27: I apologize for not updating this week. I was sick. There were a couple of worksheets during the time I was gone, and students worked on pillowcases when I returned on Thursday.
March 2-6: Students will continue the pillowcase project. We will be finished with lab time on Wednesday. (Tuesday for 5th period) Thursday will be a cooking demonstration and the first cooking lab will take place on Friday.
