Life in the twenty-first century would not be possible without police officers, attorneys, or corrections officers. Students will learn about the many careers that exist within this field of law and public safety. Besides learning about the training and educational requirements for these careers, students will explore the history of these fields and how they developed. Finally, students will examine the relationships between professionals in these fields and how collaborations between professionals in these careers help to create a safer, more stable society.
Students will learn the skills that they can apply to work in the criminal justice field. Students learn emergency first aid care, understand the criminal justice system, gain a working knowledge of the United States Constitution, enhance their teamwork skills, build their physical fitness, and learn basic police procedures.

Complete a search warrant affidavit.
Conduct proper traffic stops.
Perform proper search & seizure procedures.
Perform basic first aid procedures.
Administer CPR/AED.
Perform proper radio communications.
Properly diffuse an escalated incident.
Recognize criminal & traffic laws.
Demonstrate proper public speaking skills.
Explore the history & processes of the criminal justice system.
Learn law enforcement concepts and techniques, as well as court and corrections procedures.
Emphasis on the Mississippi Code of 1972, law enforcement today, the individual citizen and the law, and criminal justice career exploration.
Participate in hands-on, practical skill instruction, including handcuffing, radio usage, fingerprinting, vehicle stops and searches, and patrol.
Discuss the importance of good health and physical fitness in law and public safety.
Investigate the roles, responsibilities, and characteristics of specialized law enforcement agencies in Mississippi.
