Classroom Expectations/Rules

During our uncertainty with COVID, it makes it different for all things in the classroom. Library books will be checked out in a different way, class jobs won't be the same, and expectations will be to keep all of our students healthy, safe, and happy!

AR: Students may check out two (2) books from the library. Students must test on both before turning the books back in. When students check out their books, titles with book levels and points, as well as what pages are read daily will need to be written in the Reading Logs. We will go over the logs during the first week of school to practice writing down the information. We will keep a close eye on logs being written in, points earned from tests, and point clubs. We must have the information written in the log to reward!

Library Behavior: In the regular library as well as my personal classroom library, we must treat our books with respect. We don't want the books to be treated terribly, since that will result in a restriction of freedom with books. If your student finds writing in a book or a page torn, he/she should let me or Mrs. Champion know before turning it in. In my library, we have the books leveled by each level (one bin for 3.2, one bin for 3.3, etc.). We practice good organization by putting our books back in place to find them easier as well. If someone needs help, we will help them find the proper place!

Our AM and PM Procedures for every day- if we cannot properly do the procedures, we can't do our class job for the day! Each student gets the chance to work each job. Line Leader, Door Holder, Messenger, Hand Sanitizer, Light Helper, Custodian, and Bus Writer. All of these jobs help promote independence in the classroom. I also require all students to complete all jobs before they can repeat a job.

In addition to the jobs above, we have also added the Technology Helper during the 2018 school year! Due to a grant for our schools, we now have 5 laptops that stay in our room. This also assists for more differentiation in our room!
