What's the Deal with Nepo Babies?

by (8th)

Nepotism is when an actor, singer, model, famous figure, or any person really becomes successful due to their more famous parents or famous relatives.

People are raging about how “nepo babies” rule young Hollywood, being born into a wealthy family. When nepotism babies leverage these privileges to get ahead in the entertainment industry, it can make some people really angry.

Some nepo babies are aware of and acknowledge their leg up, along with the responsibilities that brings, but others try to sell a misleading notion as if they are hustlers or hardworking, which got them where they are today. In fact, they refuse to admit they were put on a path to success by their families. It could also seem like “Nepo babies” get endless chances to try and fail before they find their groove.

Here are examples of nepo babies: Lily Rose Depp, Maya Hawke, Timothee Chalamet, Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Aniston, Gigi & Bella Hadid, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Gwyneth Paltrow has claimed in many other interviews and articles that she works harder than other people since her parents are famous. She had everything from her parents yet claims she didn't have any help and she had to work twice as hard since she was known as a nepo baby. Gwyneth Paltrow is the daughter of Blythe Danner and Bruce Paltrow. Many people think that her life was actually really easy. I mean she had many opportunities, since her parents were known from the film industry. Bruce Paltrow did pass away on october, 3 , 2002 due to battling Pneumonia he fought for two years but died when he was only 58 years old while celebrating his daughter's birthday.

Gigi Hadid is one of the most remembered in the fashion industry. Her mom is also recognized in the fashion industry due to her also being a famous model. She has said that she knows she comes from privilege, in which she had some guilt when she first started modeling. She has always had a strong work ethic, since her parents came from nothing and worked hard for the careers they got.

The Hadid sisters are among the few nepotism babies with massive fans and public support, especially Bella because she has the work ethic to back it up.

We celebrate Hispanic Heritage...but why?

"It's important for us to celebrate Hispanic Heritage to show the importance's of Hispanics and honoring influential Hispanics.

My Hispanic friend taught me some words in Spanish. Also, she told me about Quinceaneras.

I want to learn more about their culture like foods and holidays we might not know about.

I want people to know just because they may not be exactly where we are from or speak the exact same language as us, they are still human and have feelings, just like we do."    ~Briana  (8th)

"We celebrate Hispanic Heritage to honor the history and the culture of spanish speaking places, such as central america, south america, mexico, etc. One hispanic person that has influenced my life is my mom. I would like to learn more about the civil war that happened in El Salvador. I want other people to know about the El Salvador civil war." ~Karen (8th)

"I believe it's important  to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, and honor the history, culture, and also the influence that's been passed  around for generations from the people who came from Spain , Mexico , the Caribbean, and Central and South America.  Some friends that I have had to help me learn about their culture and the different things that they like to do. I would like to learn how they make their food, and I would like other people to know that I enjoy the food they make. I think their culture is beautiful!" ~Lanaya (8th)
