1. Students quietly stand and exit through the classroom door with the adult(s) present in the classroom.
2. Classroom door must be closed after exiting. Adults should make sure any students in the hallway or bathroom are escorted outside.
3. Teacher walks students to the appropriate outdoor area. Students MUST remain quiet and walk to their designated space. If students are at specials, the specialist will walk them outside. If they are in the cafeteria or the playground, staff members on duty are responsible for walking students to a safe location.
4. Staff members in charge of the class must bring an updated class list outside as well as a green and red card. Roll should be taken while students are facing away from the school building. If all students are accounted for, hold up a green card. If not, hold up a red card.
5. Wait for an administrator to provide the "all clear" signal before re-entering the building. All students should calmly and quietly walk back inside.
“LOCK DOWN” indicates an emergency which requires that all areas of the building be secured. The bells will be turned off and remain off.
“SECURE THE BUILDING” is used if the danger is outside the building (example, police activity near the school).
SHELTER-IN-PLACE: One of the instructions you may be given in an emergency where hazardous materials may have been released into the atmosphere is to shelter in place. This is a precaution aimed to keep you safe while remaining indoors.
HOW TO SHELTER-IN-PLACE
REMAIN-IN-PLACE is typically implemented at the request of public safety officials to limit impact on transportation infrastructure. This response may be appropriate during large-scale events that require public safety entities to request limitations on vehicles and/or pedestrians.
