PGCPS Benchmark I and II Assessments are designed to assess students' progress in mastering the Core Learning Goals in an assessed courses: English 9, English 10, Algebra 1, Algebra II, Geometry, Quantitative Modeling, Biology and Government. These assessments will be administered twice during the 2026 school year.
Scholars, based upon their scores on their Benchmark assessments, are classified as Basic, Proficient or Advanced. Results from these assessment can be obtained from the content area teachers.
While performance results for the Benchmark assessments should not factor into a scholar's grades, they provide information used to guide instruction in the classrooms in preparation for the MCAP in May. These results also provide an indication as to how as scholar may perform on MCAP in May. If a student is struggling in an assessed course and his/her Benchmark results indicate weaknesses in the core content, scholars could benefit from extra study and review.
Contact your scholar's teacher for additional information to include study guides and other resources to prepare for the MCAP. Also, please take a moment to review the resource tab for additions online study and practice tools.
