Animal Science includes all aspects of animals and animal life, animal life cycles, and animal interactions with one another or with their environment. Examples of investigations included in this category would involve the study of the structure, physiology, development and the classification of animals, animal ecology, animal husbandry, entomology, ichthyology, ornithology, and herpetology, as well as the study of animals at the cellular and molecular level that would include cytology, histology, and cellular physiology.
Subcategories include: Animal Behavior; Cellular Studies; Development; Ecology; Genetics; Nutrition and Growth; Physiology; Systematics and Evolution.

RESEARCH PRACTICUM [RP]
Research Practicum is the Science & Technology program's designated class for high school seniors only; their goal is to complete a research project through design, development, and/or structured methodologies. Research areas include biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and computer science. Course topics are project development, proposal construction, technical writing, statistics, ethics, use of Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, information processing, and scientific display.
Differences to Expect When Viewing Research Practicum Projects: Due to Research Practicum projects taking up to a year's worth of study, the data portion of the project may not be developed. Students with Research Practicum are required to present either preliminary data, one trial, or have a prototype ready for the STEM Fair.
