Welcome to Mrs. Morgan's Counselor's Corner

Hello all! I am a 17 year Professional School Counselor at Allenwood Elementary School.  I serve all Pre-K - 5th grade students as an advocate for their academic, social-emotional, and career development.  I graduated from Trinity University, earning my Masters in School Counseling. I earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Saint Augustine's University.  I would say that my counseling theoretical orientation would include an integration of student-centered and solution-focused counseling.  I am excited to be able to make a positive impact on our young scholars and I continue to strive to make the learning environment more equitable, diverse and inclusive!

School Counseling Philosophy

As a Professional School Counselor, I strive to identify the needs of the student population, by using a student-centered approach.  It is important to know my students as individuals, which can be achieved through individual support as well as group sessions, to better advocate on their behalf, but to also provide them with the tools to actively and successfully advocate for themselves.

Mission:

To always incorporate a holistic and collaborative approach in all that I do as a Professional School Counselor, while promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion to encourage student success.

Vision

I hope to empower all students to acknowledge their mental health and to create an atmosphere of ample opportunity for growth in social/emotional wellness, academic excellence, and career exploration to nurture global learners.

School Counseling Program Services

Individual Counseling

Is a process through which students work one-on-one with Professional School Counselor in a safe, caring, and confidential environment.

Group Counseling

Is a form of counseling where a small group of students meet regularly to discuss, interact, and explore problems with each other and the group leader. Group counseling seeks to give students a safe and comfortable place in school where they can work out problems and emotional concerns.

Guidance Lessons

Classroom guidance is when the school counselor meets with the whole class to teach about things that will help students in and out of school. Classes are preventive in nature and designed to foster students' academic, personal, emotional and social development.
