English Electives & Clubs

Please note: Electives & Clubs do not count toward English course graduation requirements

Literature Electives

Starting in SY2020/2021, students can take semester-long literature courses in Women's Literature, Latinx Literature, and African American Literature. Students can pair two literature courses together or pair them with SAT prep to make a full-year elective.

Journalism & The Raider Review

The Raider Review is the student newspaper. The department offers Journalism, a hands-on course on reporting, writing, and producing news for the school paper. The course focuses on knowledge of current events and news writing, with brief lessons on producing videos, photos, cartoons, social media content, and other news products.

Journalism is both a class and a club. See Ms. Seyler for more information, or visit erhsraider.org

The Clayson

The Clayson is our Literary Magazine, and it also meets after school. See Mr. Holleran for more information.

SAT Prep*

SAT Preparation is offered as a 1-semester class during the school day, and as an after school program. The after school program in the fall is initially open to seniors only, and eventually opens for juniors as well. Please see Mr. Miller in room 220 for more information.

*SAT Prep will no longer be offered as an elective for the 2020-21 school year.
