COVID-19 GUIDELINES

The novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 is a great concern for us all. In particular, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) states based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. More information about who may be at higher risk may be found at

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-at-higher-risk.html.

If you have any questions about whether you should participate in the Girls Junior PGA Championship, please contact your personal health care provider. More specific information on COVID-19 may be found on the CDC information hub: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.

The PGA of America has undertaken a number of measures to help mitigate the risk transmission of COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses. Despite these measures, complete elimination of risk exposure and infection to COVID-19 is not currently possible. It is critical anyone planning to participate in the 45th Girls Junior PGA Championship follow the COVID-19-related protocols outlined below to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Player/ Alternate Responsibilities

The success of the 45th Girls Junior PGA Championship competition health and safety plan is contingent on every participant adhering to its policies. The foundation of the plan is SOCIAL DISTANCING, therefore, everyone is expected to maintain a proper physical distance from others (6 feet) at all times. Physical/Social distancing is the best defense against this disease, and it is imperative every individual on-site adheres to this practice at all times.

Precautions when Traveling

Prior to traveling, check with your local authorities on any travel restrictions/quarantine requirements upon returning from Kentucky.

To protect yourself and others during your trip, you should:

  • Clean your hands often.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub your hands together until they feel dry.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Avoid close contact with others (Keep at least 6 feet of physical distance from others).

  • Avoiding close contact is especially important if you are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.

  • Wear a face covering in public, indoors and outdoors when you are unable to socially distance.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes. Make sure to sneeze or cough into a tissue or inside of your elbow

  • Consider traveling with a protective face covering, alcohol-based sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, tissues and a personal thermometer.

Etiquette,

Social Distancing,

Behavior Expectations

In an effort to maintain the health and safety of all participants, players/ alternates must make every effort to adhere to recommended physical/social distancing guidelines throughout the competition and limit interaction as much as possible. This includes no shaking hands or other physical contact (e.g., fist bumps, high fives, etc.).

Players/ Alternates will be required to wear personal protective equipment, such as facial coverings indoors and outdoors when not able to social distance during the Championship and in such circumstances when directed by the PGA of America.

Wash hands with soap and water frequently before and after each round. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Make sure to sneeze or cough into a tissue or inside of your elbow.

Players/ Alternates should make every effort to rake bunkers appropriately and remove, tend and replace flagsticks when needed.

Competition Modifications

· Hole locations and notice to players will be available on-line (at approximately 7pm the night prior to the following round) and copies will be available on the starting tee.

· Very few supplies will also be available at the starting tee (however, players should plan to bring their own supplies, including pencils, tees and Sharpies)

· No official scoreboard will be located on-site. Mobile devices may be used to monitor leaderboards during and after play.
