About Mrs. Sheidow

Hello!

This is my 5th year as the Art Teacher at Caldwell Elementary and I truly love inspiring young artists everyday. Before joining Caldwell, I worked in Special Education, along with Resource and Inclusion in Round Rock. I am an artist myself and earned my degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. After college, I worked as a greeting card illustrator and later designed artwork for baby products.

I'm happily married with two wonderful kids. Outside of school I enjoy hiking, baking and painting. My favorite part of teaching art is introducing my students to new art mediums and helping them discover their confidence to see themselves as amazing artists.

What are we creating in the Art room?

KINDER

Kinder is learning about organic and geometric shapes and adding texture to their artwork. They are continuing to practice cutting and gluing.

1st Grade

1st grade has been learning about lines, geometric and organic shapes. They are also learning about collages and patterns. They are continuing to practice cutting and gluing.

2nd Grade

2nd grade has been learning about different lines and geometric and organic shapes. They are also learning what a collage is.

3rd Grade

3rd grade learning about showing movement in their artwork. And also about Van Gogh's famous painting

'The Starry Night'.

4th Grade

4th grade is learning about Dia de los Muertos and Optical Illusion art. Students have the choice to make either a sugar skull or an optical illusion.

5th Grade

5th is learning about emphasis in art and how to draw the viewers eye to a particular location in their artwork by using color.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Takashi Murakami

Ask your children what they learned about Takashi Murakami. He is a Japanese Artist who is famous for his paintings of smiley face flowers.

ART CLUB

Art club will start October 8th. It starts at 2:50 and ends promptly at 4:00. Classes will be held every Thursday.

ARTSONIA

Artsonia is an online art gallery. Teachers are able to upload student artwork so their families are able to see what they are working on in the classroom. You will recieve an email everytime I upload an image of your childs art. Only you are able to see their artwork but you are able to share the link with whomever you wish (family and friends). You also have the opportunity to buy products with your childs artwork on it such as mugs, tshirts, pot holders, etc.. and those proceeds go to fund art supplies for our classroom.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are interested in volunteering in the art room, I always need help hanging student artwork in the hallway and then taking them down again. Please email me if you are interested.

CLASSROOM DONATIONS

We are always in need of glue bottles, glue sticks, markers and clorox wipes if you are interested in donating to our classroom.
