Hello!
This is my 5th year as the Art Teacher at Caldwell Elementary and I truly love inspiring young artists everyday. Before joining Caldwell, I worked in Special Education, along with Resource and Inclusion in Round Rock. I am an artist myself and earned my degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. After college, I worked as a greeting card illustrator and later designed artwork for baby products.
I'm happily married with two wonderful kids. Outside of school I enjoy hiking, baking and painting. My favorite part of teaching art is introducing my students to new art mediums and helping them discover their confidence to see themselves as amazing artists.

What are we creating in the Art room?
KINDER
Kinder is learning how to draw self-portraits using shapes. They are also learning and practicing how to cut with scissors.
1st Grade
1st grade has been learning about lines, shapes and the difference between portraits and self-portraits.
2nd Grade
2nd grade is working on drawing their self-portraits. They are learning about lines, shapes, landscapes and horizon lines.
3rd Grade
3rd grade is painting their self-portraits and using stickers to write their personality, learning how to incorporate words into their artwork.
4th Grade
4th grade is working on their forced perspective self-portraits.
5th Grade
5th grade is working on their birds eye view self-portraits.
ARTIST OF THE MONTH
ARTIST OF THE MONTH
Dale Chihuly
Ask your children what they learned about Dale Chihuly. He is an American Glass Artist. He makes giant chandeliers and bowls out of glass. This form of art is called 'Glass Blowing'. Right now he has an exhibit in Round Rock at The City Arts Center. Admission is FREE! ART CLUB
Art club meets every Thursday after school in the art room. It is for 4th and 5th graders only.
Permission Slips and more information about ART CLUB will be passed out during art class later this month.
ARTSONIA
Artsonia is an online art gallery. Teachers are able to upload student artwork so their families are able to see what they are working on in the classroom. You will recieve an email everytime I upload an image of your childs art. Only you are able to see their artwork but you are able to share the link with whomever you wish (family and friends). You also have the opportunity to buy products with your childs artwork on it such as mugs, tshirts, pot holders, etc.. and those proceeds go to fund art supplies for our classroom.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
If you are interested in volunteering in the art room, I always need help hanging student artwork in the hallway and then taking them down again. Please email me if you are interested.

CLASSROOM DONATIONS
We are always in need of glue bottles, glue sticks, markers and clorox wipes if you are interested in donating to our classroom.
