1. The Color Guard Competition will consist of a Color Guard personal inspection and execution of a prescribed Color Guard sequence of movement by memory.
2. National, Organizational and State Colors/Flags will be the standard size issued to the respective JROTC Unit. Poles will be of regulation size as specified by the respective services. Marine Corps JROTC units. The National Colors and the Marine Corps Colors are the only authorized colors for the competition. Likewise, 9½’ poles are required. The use of any colors/poles other than those required by MCO P5060.20 (Drill Manual) and MCO P10520.3B (Flag Manual) will result in the disqualification of the color guard in any phase of competition in which the unauthorized equipment is used.
3. The composition of the Color Guard may be male, female or
mixed. The Color Guard team will consist of two color bearers and two color guards. The Color Guard Commander will carry the National Colors.
4. Color Guard performance area is 70’W X 60’L.
5. Color Guard Commander will report to the Head Judge to receive any instructions prior to the inspection phase.
6. During the inspection phase, the team members will be asked general knowledge questions with an emphasis on the American flag and its history.
7. All movements will be on the orders of the Color Guard Commander and will be executed according to the sequence listed within this enclosure. The sequence must be performed from memory. A five second delay is required after all “stationary’ commands.
8. Each omission, addition of “extra” movements, or movements given out of sequence will be assessed a Five (5) point penalty.
