Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! We’re kicking off a brand new year, and we couldn’t do it without our amazing custodial team! You’ve worked hard to make our schools clean, safe, and ready for learning from the spotless classrooms to the sparkling floors and fresh hallways.
Your work doesn’t just make the schools look great, it helps students focus, learn and feel proud of where they go every day. A clean, healthy school is a big part of helping everyone do their best, and you make that possible. Thank you for everything you do. Let’s make it an awesome year together!
We dedicate this section to the employee who has gone above and beyond in their duties.
Thank you for being a positive role model for the department!
Sonia is our July employee of the month! Sonia consistently completes every task with pride. She holds herself—and those around her—to high standards, ensuring accountability in not only her team, but other departments, as well. More than just a strong leader, she is a true team player who fosters collaboration, supports her colleagues, and leads by example every day.
Do you know someone who needs to be recognized for their hard work?
I know we do! The nomination form is open to all staff. (Click button below)
Nominations will close the 15th of every month to give the committee enough time to review and announce in the Custodial Connect Newsletter.
We’ve recently welcomed several amazing new team members to our department, and even more are on the way! Let’s give them a big, warm welcome and help them settle in. We’re thrilled to have them on board and can’t wait to see the great things we’ll accomplish together!
Dearing Lead
Although he's not new to the district, we’re excited to welcome back George Parker!
George enjoys writing and spending quality time with his cat, Matt. He is also a proud Longhorn parent—his daughter is currently in her senior year at the University of Texas!
Hidden Lake ES Lead
We're excited to welcome Gabriel Morales to the team. With over 25 years of experience in both Austin ISD and St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong work ethic to our department.
A true workaholic, he genuinely enjoys staying active—even on his days off, you can find him landscaping.
Wieland ES Lead
Laura rejoined Pflugerville ISD in 2023. Now she is stepping into her new role as Lead.
Laura is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico. While she loves what she does at work, she also enjoys relaxing with her family. One of their favorite ways to spend time together is watching movies—her top picks being adventure and horror!
Happy Birthday!

It’s that time of year again—summer equipment is getting ready to be stored for next season or future projects. Let’s make sure everything is properly prepped for storage to avoid delays when we need the equipment next time—or worse, having to replace it altogether.
Quick Tips for Proper Storage:
Clean thoroughly: Remove dirt, debris, and residue before storing.
Inspect for damage: Repair or report any issues now to avoid surprises later.
Drain fluids: Empty fuel or water tanks, if required, to prevent corrosion or damage.
💭 Remember that proper care and maintenance of our equipment helps it run smoother and last longer. Clean properly after use and be sure to use all appropriate filters and accessories.
