Electronics - Snap circuit car

Snap Circuit Car

Today you will be assembling a car using a circuit board.

Circuits will allow electricity to flow only when the circuit is "closed," meaning that all points are connected. If a circuit is "open," the flow of electricity stops.

It is important that you are careful with the pieces of the snap circuit car, not only that you do not LOSE any pieces, but also that you do not BREAK any pieces as well.

1. Take the car body out of the container. Set it in front of you so that the metal pegs with the colored circles (on the end of the car) are on the right side.

2. Take the clear plastic grid and place it EVENLY on top of the car. The numbers should be at the top and the letters on the left. Once that is snapped on, you can give a half turn to the four blue hexagons (six-sided) to help hold the grid in place.

The grid works the same way a coordinate plane would. The x-axis (horizontal) has the numbers, and the y-axis (vertical) has the letters. When following the directions, move left to right to locate the number and then up or down to find the letter.

3. Take out the red rectangular box with the antenna attached. Making sure that the "plus" sign is at the top, snap the box onto the grid so that the top left corner is at 3C.

4. Take out the green rectangular box and attach it, plus side up, so that the top left corner is at 7C.

The blue circuit bars are named by the number of attachments each one has. For example, a #4 will have 4 areas of attachment. The #1's have been attached to each end of the #6 for safe keeping. These should be removed, but be careful not to lose them.

5. Place a #7 from 1A to 7A

6. Place a #5 from 1C to 1G

7. Place a #6 from 4G to 9G

8. Take the green slide switch (on/off) labeled S1 and place it from 8A to 10A. Be sure it is in the "off" position.

9. Take the clear piece labeled W1 and place it from 2B to 2D. The plus sign should be at the top right.

10. Take the green piece labeled C4 and place it from 1A to 1C. The plus sign should be on the left.

11. Take the green piece labeled C4 and place it from 1E to 3E. The plus sign should be on top and the marking should seem upside down.

12. Take the green piece labeled C! and place it from 1F to 3F. The markings should be right side up.

13. Place a #1 at 1G

14. Place a #2 from 2A to 2B

15. Place a #2 from 2D to 3D

16. Take the black piece labeled D4 and place it from 3A to 3C. the plus sign should be on the left.

17. Place a #3 from 4A to 4C.

18. Place a #2 from 4F to 4G.

19. Take 4 of the orange pieces labeled R2 (this should be on the right) and place them from:

5C to 7C, 5D to 7D, 5E to 7E, 5F to 7F.

20. Place a #1 at 7A.

21. Place a #3 from 8A to 8C.

22. Place a #2 from 8F to 8G

23. Place a #4 from 1G to 4G.

24. Place a #2 from 7A to 8A

25.Take the gray wire and connect it from 9G to the metal peg with the gray circle around it.

26. Take the orange wire and connect it from 10A to the metal peg with the orange circle around it.

27. take all other colored wires and connect them so that each end it connected to the correct colored circles.

At this point, you should have 2 pieces left in the box.

It is important that you do not try to run the car on the counter so as not to accidentally break it.

28. Be sure that the switch on the remote control and the switch on the red block on the car are tuned to the same letter.

29. Place the car on the floor in an open space in the room and turn it on.

30. Turn on the remote control and take turns maneuvering the car.

If the car does not respond to the remote control, turn the car off and raise your hand.

When you have finished, please turn off the car and the remote and carefully take the car apart, placing the pieces back where they belong. Be sure that the #1 pieces are attached to each end of the #6 piece.

If you have more than 15 minutes left, choose a picture from the booklet and put the car together. then take everything apart and put the pieces where they belong.

If you have less than 15 minutes, play the webgames section of this site. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR STATION!
