Aviation Academy

The Aviation Academy provides a unique, specialized program that prepares students for 21st century college and careers, most specifically for opportunities in the aviation field.  Students are exposed to a variety of global career opportunities in the world of manned and unmanned aviation, and are able to apply their learning to practical applications.

In the Aviation Academy, students learn about the physics of flight, craft and test virtual rockets, build wind tunnels, and test model planes.  They also learn first-hand from aviation professionals with civilian and military backgrounds. The program uses state of the art technology tools, including drones and flight simulator stations. During their sophomore year, students will learn about flight as well as aircraft systems and performance.

During junior year, students begin to specialize either in private pilot fundamentals or unmanned aircraft systems and operations. They also participate in job shadowing and career experiences at local airports and through other aviation organizations.  Senior year includes more detailed study of aviation safety in preparation for the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge test or drone design and application that serves as preparation for the Part 107 Drone Pilot Certificate. We are excited to grow and develop this program as it continues to take flight!
