Co-curriculum opportunities at Peninsula East Primary Academy include activities and learning experiences that enhance the learning and inquiry that happens within the school day. As part of the IB PYP, it is imperative that the learning we offer is broad and balanced, therefore, we feel strongly that our co-curricular clubs and learning experiences support and nurture the learning we confidently offer to our pupils.
In school, through the PYP, we aim to deliver fantastic learning experiences through our co-curricular offer: this also works well with the belief that learning goes beyond the classroom walls and builds children’s wider knowledge of the world around them.
In school, we offer a range of co-curricular clubs such as:
Sports Clubs, including football, irish dancing, yoga and fitness clubs.
STEM and Eco clubs including gardening.
Arts and crafts clubs including baking.
Performing arts clubs including theatre clubs and choir.
We are always trying to improve our co-curricular club offer and as a result of this, we update our clubs three times a year in order to provide different experiences for children.
PEPA is active in arranging offsite school trips based on the IB Transdisciplinary Theme of the term as well as to enhance National Curriculum links. We also arrange for visitors to the school in order for our children to have real life experiences, such as animal encounters and learning how to support our very own local community.
Local Community Links in Allhallows
The Fort is a short walk from the school and is steeped in history linked back to different wars and to keep our enemies away from our shores.
Kent Coast Haven Holiday Park
Our children are able to access the holiday park for events, projects and swimming lessons.
We also have our 'Haven Heroes', Environmental Education Project that has been developed to integrate the primary schools on the Hoo Peninsula in order to protect our countryside against global warming and plastic pollution. Raising awareness and creating opportunities for younger learners to protect and look after the environment. Each year group has assigned tasks to complete throughout the year to then receive a reward, facilitated by Haven Holiday Park. Each year, when the task is completed, a stamp is put onto each child's card so that by the time they leave us in Year 6 they have completed their HH7 project and an additional reward is given for this. Please see below a copy of the HH7 launch to find further information about the project and it's tasks.
Our children are easily able to visit the zoo with our school minibus. They are also running local events and wildlife projects that we can be involved in, such as providing bug hotels and hedgehog homes.
Reverend Gwilt visits the school for weekly worship and the children visit the church at different points in the year. We mainly visit to sing to the elderly who visit the church from the local home, Chimnies, at Christmas and Easter. We are also linked to the Lottery Trust Funding that they have secured meaning that we have an educational program linked to them called 'A Jewel in the Marshland', which is run by Heritage Engagement. They have planned curriculum links to the village for us to be able to intergrate within the children's learning, such as
