At Peninsula East Primary Academy, we aim to develop every child's understanding of music by giving them the opportunity to experience enjoyment through a variety of musical activities and to respond to musical emotions.
Music teaching is linked to the National Curriculum which is enhanced by the structure of the PYP. In PEPA Tots and Reception classes singing, nursery rhymes and action songs are used to structure the children’s day and routines. Non tuned percussion instruments are readily available in the child-led environment.
Whole school singing is encouraged for seasonal performances and Mrs Love, our specialist music teacher, attends during the week to teach recorders, ocarinas and steel drums. She also offers private lessons teaching instruments such as piano.
