After constructing the candy wave machine, write some observations of how the energy travels through the machine. Illustrate the "EMS" - include types of visible and invisible light placed in order of increasing energy. Show direction of increasing energy and changes in wavelength across the spectrum.
Links to assist in answering questions for the worksheet are listed here:
Wave Interference - Earn trophies to show how waves interfere. (2/3)
In this section you will watch a Full Dome video in the planetarium about the tools used to study the cosmos. There are questions pre and post viewing of "Two Small Pieces of Glass", as well as links for simulations that describe how light can bounce and bend.
To the right - interferometers can detect gravitational waves. (This changed our view of gravity and space.)
Watch a video about the different theories of formation of the universe. Every minute or two, pause the video and whiteboard the big ideas. Share the main ideas of your video with the class, to come to a consensus on the scientific communities ideas of how the universe began.
