STEM is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic concepts are coupled with real-world lessons as students apply science, technology, engineering and mathematics in context that make connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise enabling the development of STEM literacy and with it the ability to compete in the new economy.

The Pennsbury High School S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Academy represents a course selection that addresses the educational needs of students planning on a post high school educational program in a two-year or four-year college leading to a STEM Career. The Pennsbury High School S.T.E.M. Academy, incorporating many Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs, provides students an opportunity to explore and experience engineering through a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and real-world problem solving.

The hands-on, project-based courses, engage students on multiple levels, expose them to a wide variety of topics, and provide them with a strong foundation for achieving their academic goals in any chosen field of study. These courses represent building block content coupled with problem solving curriculum which prepares students for college and career success in S.T.E.M.- related industries.

Students that complete a capstone project and 5 courses will graduate with the distinction of PHS S.T.E.M. graduate.

  1. 5 STEM Designated Courses (at least One Course from Each Column) or 5 AP STEM Designated Courses

  1. Capstone Application available: October of senior year, Due March senior year
