Fundamentals of Materials and Processes

(Level 1)

This course was designed for students who enjoy working with materials and would like to know more about their use and artistic value. Emphasis is placed on the safe use of machinery, design, math and measuring, problem solving, and craftsmanship. Materials used in class could include wood, glass, plastics and metals. This course requires a lab fee to cover the cost of the materials and is currently $45.

STEM Guitar & Artisan Woodworking

(Level 2)

This STEM course focuses on the creative application of woodworking and the use of the design process to create original works. Students will continue to develop and refine their design and creative problem solving skills. Students will have the opportunity to build an electric guitar. This course requires a lab fee, a basic guitar build will cost approximately $200. There is funding available for any student who may need assistance with the expense.

Furniture Design

(Level 2)

This course is designed to further a student’s interest and skills within woodworking and materials. Building upon their knowledge and skills from the previous courses, students will learn more advanced techniques while designing and completing more advanced projects. As students design and create projects, a strong emphasis will be placed on design and engineering. Students will learn how to design on the computer and use the CNC machine to either create or enhance their projects. Students who take this course are responsible for paying the cost of the materials used. The base fee for the class is currently $45 and will function as a "bank" for students to draw from. Any materials used over that price will need to be paid via obligations.
