Medications at School

MEDICATION POLICY

ALL medications, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements, and essential oils, require:

1) A signed order from a licensed prescriber and a parent signature.

2) Medication must be in the original container.

3) Medication must be brought in by a parent or guardian, and a signature is required at the time of drop-off.

Epinephrine auto-injectors, inhalers, and eye drops may be brought in with the student.

It is the parent's responsibility to notify the school immediately and submit a new form if there are changes in medication, dosage, time of administration, and/or the prescribing physician. Parents may request two labeled containers from the pharmacist, one for school and one for home. Medication can only be administered at school during the regular school day.

END OF THE YEAR MEDICATION RETURN

Unused medication can not be sent home with students. Medications must be picked up by the parent at the end of the year, and a signature is required at the time of pick-up. Medications not picked up will be discarded.
